What are the applications of paddlewheel flowmeter? Posted by : admin / Posted on : Nov 03, 2022

A paddlewheel flowmeter is a device that monitors the flow rate through a system and can alert the system operator if the rate becomes too high or too low. The device features a paddlewheel with magnetic sensors that produce a signal proportional to the flow rate. This output signal can be programmed to produce an alarm in either 4-20 mA pulse signals.

The paddlewheel flowmeter is widely accepted in irrigation, aquaculture, koi ponds, swimming pools, and paper mills. The device is highly durable and can be installed in pipes of various diameters. Paddlewheel flowmeters can be installed directly on the pipe or remotely, depending on the pipe type. They have a wide range of applications and can be fitted to pipes from half inch to 8".

While the paddlewheel flowmeter is great for many applications, it does have some limitations. Most importantly, if the flow rate is too low, the meter may not function properly. It must be in the correct range to reliably spin the paddle and wash any air bubbles or silt out of the pipe. A low flow rate will require a smaller diameter pipe.

The quality of a paddlewheel flowmeter depends on the type of fluid that it is used to measure. The fluid must be compatible with the wetted parts of the meter. Additionally, a meter's output is highly dependent on the density of the media. If air is present in the pipe, the meter will not accurately measure the volume of water.
