What are the characteristics of ultrasonic flowmeters? Posted by : admin / Posted on : Oct 09, 2021

Generally, an ultrasonic flowmeter refers to a flowmeter developed based on the principle that the propagation speed of ultrasonic waves in a flowing medium is equal to the vector sum of the average flow rate of the measured medium and the speed of sound waves in a static medium. It is mainly composed of transducers and converters. It consists of different types of ultrasonic flowmeters such as beam offset method, velocity difference method, Doppler method, noise method and related methods.

Ultrasonic flowmeter has the following characteristics:
1. The general ultrasonic flowmeter can be used for non-contact measurement. The clamp-on transducer ultrasonic flowmeter can be installed without stopping the flow and cutting the pipe. As long as the transducer is installed outside the existing pipeline, this is usually the ultrasonic flowmeter in the industry. With the unique advantages of the flow meter, it can be used for mobility, that is: non-fixed-point fixed installation measurement, which can be applied to the evaluation and determination of the flow status of the pipe network;
2. Ultrasonic flowmeter is suitable for large round pipes and rectangular pipes, and is not limited by pipe diameter in principle. It can be considered as one of the preferred options when real flow verification cannot be achieved;
3. Ultrasonic flowmeter measures without flow obstruction and no additional pressure loss;
4. Ultrasonic flowmeter can measure non-conductive liquids, and it is a supplement to electromagnetic flowmeter in terms of unobstructed flow measurement;
5. Ultrasonic flow meters with transducers mounted on the outside cannot be used for pipelines with too thick lining or fouling, nor can they be used to peel off the lining (or rust layer) from the inner pipe wall (if gas sandwiched in the interlayer will seriously attenuate the ultrasonic signal ) Or severely rusted (changing the ultrasonic propagation path) pipeline.
6. For the propagation time method, the ultrasonic flowmeter can only be used to clean liquids and gases;
7. For some time-of-flight ultrasonic flowmeters, the function of measuring the time of sound wave is attached, which can measure the speed of sound of the liquid to determine the type of liquid to be measured. Bottom water.

The above are the main features of the ultrasonic flowmeter.
