How does the gas mass flow meter technology work? Posted by : admin / Posted on : May 24, 2021

The technical working principle of gas mass flowmeter
The gas mass flow meter is based on the principle that the rate of heat absorption is directly related to the mass flow rate. The sensor of this meter is composed of two reference thermal resistances (platinum RTD).
One is the mass velocity sensor T1, and the other is the temperature sensor T2 that measures the gas temperature change. When the two RTDs are placed in the gas to be measured, the sensor T1 is heated to a constant temperature difference above the gas temperature
Another sensor T2 is used to sense the temperature of the gas to be measured. As the gas mass flow rate increases, the airflow takes away more heat, and the temperature of the sensor T1 drops. To maintain a constant temperature difference between T1 and T2, the heating power of T1 will increase. According to King's law of thermal effects. The moving gas molecules absorb and take away heat when they hit the thermal resistance. The larger the flow, the more molecules contacting the thermal resistance and the more heat absorbed. The heat absorption is related to the number of molecules, thermal characteristics and flow characteristics of a certain gas.
