What are the common problems with ultrasonic flowmeters and how to solve them? Posted by : admin / Posted on : May 12, 2022

1) After the ultrasonic flowmeter is used for a period of time, when there are many impurities in the conveyed medium, there will be irregular alarms. The probe needs to be cleaned regularly;

2) When there are liquid impurities such as water in the medium conveyed by the ultrasonic flowmeter, the pressure pipe of the flowmeter is prone to accumulate liquid, and when the temperature is low, it is prone to freezing blockage. It is necessary to purge the pressure pipe or install the heating cable;

3) Ultrasonic flowmeter cannot be used normally under strong on-site interference. If the power supply voltage fluctuates greatly, there is strong magnetic field interference around, or the grounding is unreliable. It is necessary to provide a stable power supply to the instrument, stay away from interference sources, and do a good job of grounding.

4) Because the pipe diameter is too large or the pipe diameter is seriously fouled or the installation method selected is incorrect, the signal of the clamp-on flowmeter will be weak. Plug-in probe mounting or zigzag mounting is available.

Based on the above discussion, ultrasonic flowmeters and electromagnetic flowmeters have their own advantages in different environments. In the case of low-cost operations and low requirements for measurement accuracy, ultrasonic flowmeters should be used more; in the case of sufficient installation and maintenance funds and high requirements for measurement accuracy, electromagnetic flowmeters should be used more. Of course, measurement and testing personnel should carefully investigate the source of interference to the flowmeter in the working environment, and take effective anti-interference measures.
